01 · The program

Two ways to earn.

Premium memberships use your personal affiliate link. Eligible digital products use your author code at checkout.

Premium membership

Share your Premium link.

Your HAP Premium link first asks the reader for the email they use with Hotels Above Par. That quick step connects the author referral to the membership, then sends them to the normal HAP Upgrade page.

Monthly Premium: 15% on the first qualifying month only. Future monthly renewals are not commissioned.

Annual Premium: 15% on the first qualifying annual term only. Future annual renewals are not commissioned.

Attribution: last touch. The most recent valid participating-writer link used before purchase receives the qualifying commission, not the reader's original referrer.

The author link does not change the reader's Premium price.

Boutique Books + eligible products

Share the product and your code.

For eligible HAP digital products, send the reader to the product page and give them your assigned author code to enter at checkout.

Reader benefit: 5% off when your code is active for that product.

Commission: 15% of qualifying net merchandise revenue after the reader discount and any refunds.

Useful first. Promotional second.

The strongest affiliate recommendation still sounds like you. Start with judgment, context, or a real travel problem. Then point to HAP when it helps.

Start with the traveler.

Use a real question, frustration, itinerary decision, or story as the reason for the recommendation.

Give value before the sale.

Add your own expertise. A naked link or code is rarely the strongest version of a recommendation.

Use the correct tool.

Premium membership equals your personal Premium link. Eligible digital product equals product page plus your author code.

Remember last touch.

For Premium, the most recent valid participating-writer link used before purchase receives the qualifying commission. Product attribution follows the code actually used at checkout.

Make the reader benefit obvious.

Explain why the resource saves time, sharpens a trip, or opens the HAP travel library.

Disclose the relationship.

Keep the disclosure close to the recommendation so a normal reader will notice it.

06 · Payouts

Accrue now. Reconcile once. Pay by January 31.

HAP keeps the year-end payout cycle simple and gives refunds and adjustments time to settle before payment is finalized.

Payout calendar

One annual reconciliation.

Through December 31: qualifying affiliate commissions accumulate.

On or before January 31: HAP issues the reconciled payout after qualifying sales, refunds, and adjustments are reviewed.

Can I earn on a Boutique Book I did not write?

Yes. For eligible products, the qualifying commission follows the author code used at checkout, not the product byline.

What happens when someone clicks my Premium link?

They see a short HAP confirmation screen asking for the email they use with Hotels Above Par. That connects the author referral to the membership, then sends them to the normal HAP Upgrade page.

Can I share my Premium link on social media?

Yes. Use it in newsletters, websites, social posts, video descriptions, messages, and QR codes.

Does my Premium link give the reader a discount?

Not currently. It uses the normal HAP Premium price shown on the Upgrade page.

How does Premium attribution work if a reader clicked more than one writer's link?

HAP uses last-touch attribution. The qualifying commission goes to the participating writer whose valid Premium affiliate link the reader used most recently before purchase, not automatically to the original referrer.

Are Premium renewals commissioned?

No. Monthly Premium earns commission on the first qualifying month only. Annual Premium earns commission on the first qualifying annual term only. Future monthly or annual renewals do not generate additional affiliate commission.

When are affiliate commissions paid?

Qualifying commissions accumulate through December 31. HAP reconciles qualifying sales, refunds, and adjustments and issues payment on or before January 31.

Will I need to complete tax or payment paperwork?

Yes, if HAP HR requires paperwork for your payout. Watch for an email from hapfinances@gmail.com with tax-related forms, payment information requests, or other payout setup instructions.

What happens after a refund?

Product commissions are based on qualifying net merchandise revenue. A full refund eliminates the commission on that sale; later refunds may be reflected as an adjustment.

Why is my product code not working?

The product must be live and the author discount must be active for that product. Contact your HAP program contact if an eligible product should be live but your code is not being accepted.
